The history of DCM group goes back to 1889 with the Delhi Cloth Mills, when industry was in its infancy in India. Visualising the tremendous boom in the automobile sector both nationally and internationally, the DCM Group setup a Grey Iron Foundry in 1977 with the capacity of 17000 Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MTPA) as Division of DCM Limited at village Asron, Tehsil Balachaur, Distt Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, Punjab. This division was subsequently hived off from DCM Limited as an independent company "DCM Engineering Limited” in 2004 (effective April 2001).

Capacity of this foundry was increased to 35,000 & 50,000 MTPA in the year 1994-95 & 2005-06 respectively. Recently, this capacity has been increased to 72,000 MTPA. This foundry is one of the leading foundries in India, in the segment of Automotive Castings. The foundry specializes in the manufacture of Cylinder Heads, Cylinder Blocks and Housings. The company has achieved the annual turnover level of INR 4100 million during the year 2012-13.

DCM is supplying Grey Iron castings across all segments in automotive market: Passenger Cars, Utility Vehicles, Tractors, Commercial Vehicles, Construction Equipment and Gensets.

DCM is progressively moving towards latest automation by up gradation of plant & machineries and adopting latest technologies. In this connection, the Company has gone for Automatic Core Centre as a technology shift and has installed latest Automatic Core Cell from Loramendi, Spain. This Auto Core Cell will produce assembled cores with minimal weight variation from the Designed weight, having highest level of dimensional accuracies, reduced core breakage and high productivity. The parting line fins and mismatch will also be minimal thus resulting in reduced excessive fettling in the castings. DCM has also installed CNC Fettling Machines from MAUS, Italy. With these machines, the Blocks are getting fettled in-house with minimal manual intervention.Company houses two high pressure moulding lines, HPM and KW line with press pour, in addition to other supporting processes and equipments. DCM has also up-graded the PLC & Hydraulic system of Kunkel Wagner (KW) line and has replaced old Mould Boxes with new ones to ensure improved control system, leading to better productivity and quality.

DCM has in-house R&D facilities which includes designing of components using latest technologies' CAD/ CAM Softwares like Pro- Engineer,UniGraphics, Tebis, Delcam etc. & Simulation Software from MagmaSoft. Apart from Designing, DCM R&D Center has Proto Development facility for tooling development and Validation facility.These facilities include CNC machining Centers, 3D CMM, White Light Scanner etc. apart from other conventional machines.

Company employs more than 1700 people at its manufacturing plant at Ropar, Punjab. Company’s registered office is at New Delhi. It is a subsidiary of DCM Limited. DCM Engineering Limited is not a listed entity. Its holding company is however listed at BSE and NSE.
